ENABLING PV Round Table in Baku – Strengthening Renewable Energy Cooperation

Baku, February 5, 2025 – The ENABLING PV Round Table held in Baku brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to discuss the advancement of solar and renewable energy development in Azerbaijan.

Organized by EUROSOLAR Georgia, in partnership with eclareon GmbH, ideas into energy gGmbH, and AHK Azerbaijan, and supported by the German Federal Foreign Office (FFO) and BSW-Solar (German Solar Association), the event served as a platform for collaboration between Azerbaijani and German experts, private companies, and policymakers.

George Kekelidze, Executive Director of EUROSOLAR Georgia and Innovation Energy LLC, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in accelerating the adoption of solar and green technologies:

“Azerbaijan has significant potential in solar energy, and through initiatives like ENABLING PV, we aim to create an environment where businesses, policymakers, and academic institutions can work together to drive meaningful progress in the renewable energy sector.”

Key Discussions: Private Sector & Policy Support

The Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy provided an update on the country’s renewable energy roadmap, emphasizing key projects such as the Garadagh Solar Power Plant (230 MW) and upcoming green hydrogen initiatives. Discussions also focused on policy support for private companies, investment incentives, and international best practices for scaling up renewable energy deployment.

A special session was dedicated to vocational education and capacity-building, with experts highlighting the need for technical training programs and workforce development to support Azerbaijan’s growing clean energy market.

Moving Forward

The event concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral partnerships, advancing joint projects in solar and hydrogen, and increasing the engagement of local businesses and international investors.

“ENABLING PV continues to be an important platform for fostering dialogue and practical collaboration between solar energy stakeholders,” Kekelidze added. “We look forward to building on the discussions from this Round Table and translating them into real projects that benefit both regions.”
